In Hogwarts Legacy, you will run across a variety of characters. As you progress through the game you will meet professors, other Hogwarts students, ghosts, shopkeepers, and many other NPCs.

What Harry Potter Characters are in Hogwarts Legacy?
The story of Hogwarts Legacy takes place in the late 19th century. Therefore, you will not encounter any mortal characters from the books and movies like Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, or Ron Weasley.
Nevertheless, you will run into a few familiar faces in the game. The following characters from the Harry Potter books and movies have been spotted in Hogwarts Legacy gameplay footage:
- Gryffindor House Ghost Nearly Headless Nick.
- Poltergeist Peeves.
- The Fat Lady whose portrait guards the entrance to Gryffindor.
- Professor Cuthbert Binns, the teaching ghost (only appears in the books).
- Phineas Nigellus Black, whose portrait later hangs in Dumbledore’s office.
Is Dumbledore in Hogwarts Legacy?
Albus Dumbledore is the headmaster of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter books and movies. He plays an important role in the Harry Potter story. Dumbledore was born in August 1881. In the autumn of 1892, he became a student at Hogwarts.
The story of Hogwarts Legacy takes place in 1890. Since Dumbledore was only at Hogwarts from 1892, we will probably not meet him in Hogwarts Legacy for the time being.
However, it could be possible, for example, that a later DLC for Hogwarts Legacy takes place in the years in which Dumbledore attended Hogwarts. Should Dumbledore come into play, however, it will be a youthful Dumbledore that likely bears little resemblance to the later Dumbledore of the Harry Potter story.

To expand your knowledge of magic, you attend classes in Hogwarts Legacy, in which different school subjects are taught. You will also get to know your professors better. Professors already confirmed for Hogwarts Legacy are the following:

Students (Companions)
There are a number of students who can become your companions in Hogwarts Legacy. There seem to be two categories of companions: key companions and other companions.
Key companions each have their own extensive quest chain. As part of these quest lines, you gain access to new locations, quests, etc. The other companions also each have their own personality, unique combat spells, and preferences. Unlike key companions, however, they do not come with their own quest line.

Villains in Hogwarts Legacy
As part of the Hogwarts Legacy story, you will encounter several villains who threaten the peace of the wizarding world. The following antagonists are known:

The Keepers
The Keepers are the guardians of ancient magic dating back to the Tudor era. The Keepers were led by Percival Rackham. In Hogwarts Legacy, deep beneath Hogwarts Castle is the “Map Chamber”. In this chamber, you will interact with the portraits of the four keepers. The four keepers are the following characters:

Will There Be Werewolves in Hogwarts Legacy?
Werewolves are humans who turn into aggressive wolves during a full moon. In wolf form, those affected cannot remember their alter ego. Therefore, there is a chance that they will even kill their family or friends. In the Harry Potter books and films, Remus Lupin is a well-known werewolf.
It is not yet known whether there will be characters in Hogwarts Legacy that turn into a werewolf on a full moon.
